We are proud to announce that we have been chosen as one of the winners of this year’s Decorate Your Gate Competition. In recognition of our work, the school will receive much needed funds. The money that we have won is going towards some new sporting equipment. Students will have the chance to have their say and choose some of the new purchases.
The investment in physical activity will not only promote health and teamwork but also provide an avenue for these kids to have fun, learn valuable life skills and build their confidence.
Decorate Your Gate Artist Statement – St Pius X Windale
At the heart of our entry for Decorate Your Gate is St Pius X Windale’s unwavering dedication to children’s wellbeing. With the theme ‘Where We Start Matters,’ our school embarked on a creative journey. Each child crafted their own cardboard likeness resulting in a vibrant celebration of their uniqueness. From selecting skin tones to choosing hair and clothing styles, they proudly embraced their individuality.
Hand in hand, the figures form a united chain along our school fence, showcasing the strength of our community. Bright colours and street maps tell stories of their diverse origins and celebrates the rich tapestry of our school family. Words like love, support and protect, held by figures depict our commitment to safeguarding. The installation encapsulates that every child’s journey starts with care, positivity, and inclusivity. It’s a reminder that small choices lay the foundation for a brighter, safer future where children are cherished, protected, and empowered to thrive.
